Curtis Walnut Table
One of a kind! Magnificent antique walnut table on heavy cast iron machine base.
Planks are wide and bookmatched to make an exquisite dining or conference table. Base is from a woodworking stroke sander, thoroughly cleaned and painted satin black.
History: Antique Walnut is very rare--this reclaimed lumber is from the oldest section of the Federal Prison in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Originally made by the Curtis Machine Company of Jamestown, NY in the late 1800s, the sanding machine was rebuilt in the 1920s by the Rowley-Hermance Machine Company of Williamsport, PA. Brass machine tags on the base tell the story. We dragged it out of a woodworking factory in PA that closed in 2008.
